Overview & Background
The TAG-SE (Target Area Grant Southeast) in Pittsburg County is part of the Healthy Living Program (HLP) grant from the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET). Our focus is to reduce tobacco and vaping use in youth and obesity in Southeast Oklahoma.

KI BOIS Community Action Foundation, Inc. was chosen as the lead agency for Pittsburg County. In 2022, KI BOIS applied for and received the HLP Grant when Pittsburg County relinquished the grant. Program Coordinator, Debbie Vega, was hired in 2022.
Areas of Focus
TAG -SE works to:

-
Assist cities and businesses with creating a workplace that is tobacco-free and encourages healthy food choices.
-
Help local convenience stores and locally-owned restaurants improve the nutritional value of foods they offer.
Goals & Objectives
The goal of this work is to create and support an environment where the healthy choice is the easy choice and healthy options are available and accessible.

It is important to know that Oklahoma has consistently had poor health outcomes due to very high rates of diseases related to tobacco use and physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and obesity.
